New update starts hitting Sony Xperia XZ and X Performance

Sony has started pushing out a new update to its Xperia XZ and X Performance smartphones. Arriving as version 41.2.A.7.65, the update brings along Android security fixes for the month of September.


There's currently no information on what other changes (if any) the update includes. The roll out is currently limited to a few regions, although it's expected to expand in the near future.

Aside from Sony, Google and Nokia have also pushed out the latest security patch to some of their devices.

Huawei launches operating system for Android

Chinese telecom giant Huawei unveiled its own operating system yesterday, as it faces the threat of losing access to Android systems amid escalating US-China trade tensions. The highly-anticipated software is considered crucial for the tech group’s survival as it confronts a looming White House ban on US companies selling technology products to Huawei which could remove its access to Google’s Android operating system. Richard Yu, the head of Huawei’s consumer business, revealed HarmonyOS or HongMeng in Chinese at a press conference in the southern city of Dongguan. IFA is taking place later this week in Berlin, and as usual there will be plenty of mobile-related events. Samsung's is scheduled for August 30 at 6 PM local time, and today the Korean company took to Twitter to release its first teaser for the grand unveiling of its next wearable.
