According to a new report from South Korea, the much-hyped foldable smartphone from Samsung is likely to be made official in February at next year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The report says the company has asked partners to start the supply of parts for the device by November this year. It further adds the project code name for the phone has also been changed from Valley to Winner, which experts say is an indication the project has moved beyond the development phase and nearing release. So what about the next Galaxy S series phone? Well, the report notes it will be pulled by a couple of months and will debut in January. The Korean company will allegedly use the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) platform to unveil the Galaxy S10, although that seems unlikely. If anything the company might hold a standalone event for the next S-series devices. In case you missed it, Samsung's CEO said earlier this year the company is working to ensure that the foldable smartphone -

The iPhone X is the top-selling smartphone for Q1 2018 with the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus closely behind

Image
Apple was criticized for releasing the most expensive iPhone ever, namely the iPhone X, but that didn't stop the latter taking the number one spot for the best-selling smartphone for Q1 2018. And if you are surprised, just take a look at the ranking below - the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus follow its more expensive sibling closely in the chart. According to Strategy Analytics, Apple has shipped whopping 16 million units during that period while the less expensive iPhone 8 and 8 Plus take the second and third place with an impressive score of 12.5 and 8.3 million, respectively. What's even more impressive is the fact that Apple's previous generation device, the iPhone 7, takes the fourth place in this research with 5.6 million units. The two remaining spots are occupied by the Xiaomi Redmi 5A and Samsung's Galaxy S9+. However, both results don't seem to be all that surprising since the Xiaomi Redmi 5A was an entry-level device in India priced to sell by the boatl

Apple confirms iPhone 7/7 Plus disabled microphone issue

Image
Apple has acknowledged an issue plaguing some iPhone 7/7 Plus units that has resulted in microphones being disabled. The acknowledgement came in the form of an internal document sent out to Apple Authorized Service Providers informing them about the problem. It's a serious issue - reported by users with devices running iOS 11.3 or later - as disabled microphone renders the calling feature useless. The document, spotted by MacRumors, asks service providers to first make sure the affected unit isn't connected to any Bluetooth or audio accessories. If the speaker button remains grayed out during a call, and running audio diagnostics results in a "device could not detect dock" or "accessory not supported" message, then the center can initiate the repair process. Even units that are out of warranty will be repaired considering this case as an exception. There's currently no information on how a software update caused a hardware issue, which it seemingly
